Inspired by current claims of decolonizing, Africanizing, and/or transforming academia we, a group of German studies scholars predominantly based in Africa and less dominantly in Europe, seek to re-consider research positions as well as existing teaching priorities (and materials) of German as an academic discipline, a subject in (higher) education, a language and a means of expression for artists past and present. In a series of scientific events to be hosted by universities in Cape Town...Inspired by current claims of decolonizing, Africanizing, and/or transforming academia we, a group of German studies scholars predominantly based in Africa and less dominantly in Europe, seek to re-consider research positions as well as existing teaching priorities (and materials) of German as an academic discipline, a subject in (higher) education, a language and a means of expression for artists past and present. In a series of scientific events to be hosted by universities in Cape Town (South Africa), Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) and Nairobi (Kenya), we proceed programmatically by assimilating to the positions of the Decolonizing movement and inviting its theoreticians and spokespersons, conceptionally by devising new theory models with the help of experienced researchers from Germanistik and adjacent disciplines, and practically by integrating these results in the curricula of higher education and university teaching. We are thus explicitly focusing on basic research and will at the same time be concerned with the detection and development of Good Practice formats at educational centers, pre- and para-academic ones, as well as universities.» weiterlesen» einklappen
