The ZIFET successfully participated in 2017 for a call of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate for the "InnoProm" project. "InnoProm" is a project sponsored by the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate that promotes practice-oriented doctoral projects designed to promote concrete innovations of companies in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Within the initiative funded by the EU, innovative doctorates are supported in cooperation with medium-sized companies. Together with voestalpine SIGNALING Siershahn GmbH, the project proposal "Development of a method for the holistic evaluation of safety technologies using the example of Railway Diagnostic & Monitoring Technologies" was successfully accepted. Since 2018, the InnoProm project is supporting Mathias Linden's dissertation. The individual doctoral projects will be funded for a period of three years.

The project's targeted funding makes cooperation with doctoral candidates particularly attractive for companies and universities. Through direct state funding and with the help of funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the state of Rhineland-Palatinate assumes the majority of the personnel costs incurred by the universities for the doctoral student. The remaining costs of the doctorate are borne by the university and the cooperating company.

Funding
The cooperative dissertation is supported by the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRE), co-financed by the Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate.
