It focused on evaluating existing education, training, regulation, and deployment practices for SBAs, particularly in rural and remote areas. Using a mixed-methods approach—including desk reviews, interviews, surveys, field visits, and workshops—the study identified key gaps in availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality (AAAQ) of SBA services. The findings informed actionable policy and training recommendations aligned with international standards, emphasizing the need for updated guidelines, improved data systems, midwifery-led care models, and targeted workforce investments.
