The Cognitive Systems and Robotics Lab was founded in the winter semester of 2022/23. Its research focuses on the design, analysis, and implementation of functions, components, and complete systems that are typically transferred to demanding robotics applications. In terms of content, the laboratory focuses in particular on navigation and localization, multimodal perception, AI-supported methods, control and planning, and actuators integration.

A key application focus is on collectivist systems: networked, heterogeneous robotics and assistance systems that collaborate and cooperate reliably in networks and mixed operations and interact with their environment. The laboratory thus addresses issues such as autonomous driving, assistive robot systems in industry and the private sector, and humanoid robotics for everyday application scenarios.
