The dynamic connectome: keeping the balance (Computational Connectomics)

Laufzeit: 01.01.2017 - 31.12.2020

Kurzfassung

Recent findings indicate that inhibitory synapses have a disproportionally large impact on the activity patterns that can emerge in neuronal networks. However, the knowledge about the long-term dynamics of inhibitory synapses in cortical circuits is comparably scarce. Here, we establish methodology that allows chronic imaging of excitatory and inhibitory synapses simultaneously in the mouse auditory cortex in vivo. However, the knowledge about the long-term dynamics of inhibitory synapses in cortical circuits is comparably scarce. Here, we establish methodology that allows chronic imaging of excitatory and inhibitory synapses simultaneously in the mouse auditory cortex in vivo. We aim to shed light on the mechanisms that safeguard the balance between excitation and inhibition in a dynamic network. This project is complemented by tight collaboration on advanced image analysis approaches and theoretical network modeling by the laboratories of Prof. Matthias Kaschube and Prof. Jochen Triesch at the FIAS in Frankfurt.» weiterlesen» einklappen
