Kurzfassung

Hepatitis E-infection seems to be one of the most prevalent infections in blood donors. In rare cases chronic infections were observed. It is not yet claer whether screening of blood donors could be beneficial for saftey of transfusion.Ther is no study, wherescreening of single donor specimens was done. by now only pool-testing was carried out. The Question remains, how many HEV-infctions are missed by pool-testing of blood donor samples.
