Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) plays an important role in therapy of coagulopathy. The quality of whole blood (WB) derived plasma has been subject of several studies, but there has been a lack of robust, comparative data for the different methodes of processing and freezing. Several different WB processing ahd freezing regimens are currently available to the producers of non-pathogen reduced WB derived therapeutic plasma preparations. The study compares directly the influence on plasma quality of different storage times and temperatures and the speed of freezing by preparing plasma pools from gender and AB0 blood group identical WB units which werde split into identical plasma units.
