One of the risks of orthodontic treatments is apical root resorption. This may cause a reduction of tooth substance in the region of the root tip by forces acting for example too long or too hard on the tooth. To diagnose successes and failures and to document is an X-ray  before and after the treatment necessary. Here the panoramic radiograph has proven to be most useful, since all the relevant structures can be captured with her. The aim of the work is a comparison of root lengths before and after orthodontic treatment. For this purpose, the root lengths are measured from the respective before and after panoramic radiographs and then compared. This will provide information about whether certain teeth more prone to root resorption than others.
