Kurzfassung

The primary objective of this study is to identify predictive, prognostic and therapy-related biomarkers in the longitudinal Mainz vasculitis cohort, including measures of vasculitis disease activity, organ damage and health related quality of life (HRQoL). There are no suitable biomarkers available which distinguish between the different forms of AAV. Furthermore, both prognostic and therapy-related lab markers are still missing. There are no suitable biomarkers available which distinguish between the different forms of AAV. Furthermore, both prognostic and therapy-related lab markers are still missing. Thus, early individualized treatment according to disease severity or organ manifestation is not possible.
Therefore, the search for biomarkers which facilitate the individual therapy of AAV, is urgently necessary. Soluble biomarkers are perfectly suitable to provide rheumatologists a simple diagnostic and prognostic tool.
In addition, despite the enormous progress being made in the development of novel therapies in the treatment of AAV there are only limited biomarker to predict the response to a certain drug. Therefore, we started a comprehensive autoimmune biobank project focussing on patients with vasculitides using high-throughput sequencing technology and cytokine detection in sera.
