Kurzfassung

Changes in the Arctic climate system are strongly related to atmosphere-ocean-sea ice (AOI) interactions. These processes, such sea ice production in polynyas and dense water formation, represent key processes for the ocean and the cryosphere. The overall goal of the project is to achieve a major improvement of the understanding and quantification of AOI processes for the recent climate of the last 30 years and for a climate scenario for the end of the 21th century. It is of particular interest, how polynya processes and atmospheric forcing (such as wind extremes) influence the oceanic exchange between the Laptev and Kara Sea and how these processes will change in the future.» weiterlesen» einklappen
