With empirically deduced information such feedback systems are a substantial part of future health-care systems. Objective: The main goal of this study is to develop and assess a feedback system to evaluate ongoing treatment progress on the basis of newer definitions of clinically meaningful change. Methods: The analyses are based on data from 440 patients of two different university outpatient clinics. For these already completed psychotherapies different evaluations of the course of individual patients were conducted with three different outcome questionnaires ( Inventory of Emotional Distress, EMI, Symptom Checklist 90-R, SCL-90 (Global Severity Index GSI), Beck Depression Inventory, BDI). Results: Analyses reveal that approximately one-third of patients would have received positive feedback at first assessment after session 8 or 10, respectively, as their problems had already improved clinically significantly according to all assessment tools used. Between 3 and 15% would have received negative feedback. Analyses also show that additional assessments of patients are necessary in order to assure that results are robust. Discussion: The presented heuristics can be used as preliminary descriptions of treatment recommendations in ongoing therapies and thus to evaluate psychotherapeutic progress in the respective studies. Nonetheless, they require further evaluation and research. » weiterlesen» einklappen
