The title compound, C28H26N4O2 center dot C4H8O2, was prepared from (2,4,6- trimethylphenyl)( 1H-pyrrol-2-ylmethylene) amine and phenyl isocyanate in the presence of catalytic amounts of [Pd( PPh3)(4)]. Recrystallization of the crude product from a pentane-ethyl acetate mixture (10: 1) yielded the title compound as the ethyl acetate solvate. The pyrrolo[1,2c] imidazole core is essentially planar.
