Article II, Smyrna: Part of the Apocalypse of John is a series of seven letters addressing seven churches of Asia Minor (at the of the 1st century): Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. The individual letters are characterized by the local color of the cities and the region, by apocalyptic images and motifs, which are taken up and deepened in the apocalyptic main part of the Apocalypse of John.
