Membrane and membrane protein markers were synthetized from phospholipids and lipid analogs. The labels contained a absorbant or fluorescent group for visualization of the membranes or labeld mebrane protein within, e.g. a Dansyl or Dabsyl group. The doubled labeling compounds for protein photo-labeling contained an azido-residue. Thus the hydrophobic dye, e.g. 1-Dansyl-8-azido-naphtalene, can be attacched at any time to the protein within microseconds by flash photolysis, e.g. in different p...Membrane and membrane protein markers were synthetized from phospholipids and lipid analogs.
