ALICE/EPICS InterComLayer
Kurzfassung: Das ZTT ist seit 2003 Vollmitglied am Collaboration Board des ALICE Detektors an der europäischen Großforschungs-einrichtung CERN. In diesem Rahmen wird an der Entwicklung einer Softwarekomponente gearbeitet. ALICE ist die Bezeichnung für eines der Experimente des LHC.

Bei der entwickelten Software handelt es sich um eine generische Kommunikations-Middleware, die von mehreren Detektorgruppen innerhalb des ALICE Projekts eingesetzt wird, um Betriebsparameter wie Stromstärken, Spannungen und Temperaturen von der Sensorhardware zu einem entfernten Kontrollraum zu leiten. Die Datenflut kann dabei mehrstufig gefiltert und umgeleitet werden, so dass nur die relevanten Daten an ihrem jeweiligen Bestimmungsort ankommen. Die Software ist in ihrer Funktionalität komplett und konnte in umfangreichen Tests ihre Eignung für den Echtbetrieb unter Beweis stellen. Die Software wird am Point 2 zum Betrieb mehrerer Detektorsubsysteme im wissenschaftlichen Produktionsbetrieb eingesetzt.
